Fallen NYPD officer Jonathan Diller is being remembered by friends and family as wake services get underway in Massapequa.

Diller was described by the 105th Precinct where he worked as a "cop’s cop." During his three years as an officer, he kept neighborhoods safer and his co-workers upbeat - starting each roll call with ‘let’s have a great day.’

A friend told News 12 that Diller “was born to be a cop. He was born to be a hero, OK. He was born to be a hero. He died being a hero. He died doing what he loved."

The 31-year-old move to Massapequa Park a few years ago to raise his family, but his roots were in Franklin Square.

Friends described Diller as a jokester and a good athlete.

Diller played in an adult hockey league. In high school, he helped St. Mary’s lacrosse team with a big win.

Diller was also a devoted husband to his wife Stephanie and their baby boy Ryan.

Diller was also a cherished son, brother and brother-in-law.
