A Bergen County hospital held a special celebration for a volunteer who will soon turn 100 years old.
Irene Minick, of Teaneck, has been volunteering at Hackensack University Medical Center for 30 years. She started volunteering after retiring as a bookkeeper. She volunteers in various departments, including NICU and dispatching.
"It's something that I wanted to do to take up my time and to do something for other people. It was the most wonderful thing I ever did…and to have such wonderful people as friends, is unbelievable."
Minick will turn 100 next month, but Thursday was her last day in her role as a volunteer.
