Gov. Chris Christie has ordered flags on state buildings to fly at half-staff Tuesday to mourn the victims of last week's attack in Mali that killed a woman raised in New Jersey.
At least 20 people were killed in the attack on a hotel in Bamako, Mali, including 41-year-old Anita Datar.
Datar grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Mount Olive High School and Rutgers University.
The 41-year-old Takoma Park, Maryland, resident was a senior manager at Palladium Group, an international development organization with offices in Washington.
She worked in Senegal with the Peace Corps for more than two years and earned master's degrees in public health and public administration from Columbia.
