Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself in to authorities Monday on a weapons charge related to his self-inflicted gunshot wound over the weekend.
Burress is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. On Friday, he accidentally shot himself in the thigh while at a Manhattan nightclub.
The football star posted $100,000 bail and was ordered to return to court March 31. If found guilty, he faces between three and 15 years in prison.
The situation is only the latest bout with trouble for Burress this year.
Burress has been in the spotlight this season for fights with officials and coaches and was recently suspended. Reports indicated police have been called twice to his Huntington Terrace home in the past six months for domestic disturbances.
