Motorists clogged the states roads, bridges and tunnels Thursday in anticipation of the three-day Fourth of July weekend, but experts say the roads may be a little clearer this year.
Residents waiting to travel down the shore are being advised to gas up now, as a price hike is expected Friday.
The roads may be a little clearer than is typical for this time of year, as a 1.6 percent drop has been reported in the number of New Jersey residents planning to drive 50 miles or more.
Experts advise following proper safety precautions and safe driving. About three people are killed on average in the Garden State as a result of Independence Day motor vehicle accidents.
