Founding News 12 co-anchor Bill Zimmerman dies at age 83

Zimmerman was a founding co-anchor for News 12 Long Island in 1986 and won a New York Emmy in 1990 as part of our coverage of the Avianca plane crash.

Bill Zimmerman, an original member of the News 12 Long Island family, has died.
Zimmerman was a founding co-anchor for News 12 Long Island in 1986.
He won a New York Emmy in 1990 as part of our coverage of the Avianca plane crash.
Zimmerman died Sunday at his Lake Success home. He was 83.
He leaves behind his wife, four children and 11 grandchildren.
