A foundation is looking to award improvement grants to nonprofits serving minority and LGBT youth in the Bronx.

Minority youth and young New Yorkers in the LGBT community may sometimes feel underserved in a city of millions. However, a grant from the William T. Grant Foundation is looking to focus on organizations that serve those communities to create safe spaces and learning opportunities.

The foundation wants to award $25,000 in funding to expand each nonprofit selected that is already established. 

Masa in Mott Haven was a recipient of the youth service improvement grant last year.

The money was used to improve the after-school homework and tutoring program and its social justice-focused curriculum for immigrant youth and their families.

The foundation says it is still accepting application from nonprofits until March.
