The Linden Police Department is warning residents about reports of scam calls from individuals impersonating members of law enforcement.

Authorities say the suspects are spoofing their caller IDs and displaying numbers belonging to different police departments.

According to police, the suspects are using the names of officers they found through searching municipal websites. The callers also have thick accents.

Police say residents should not provide their personal information if they receive the calls.

Authorities urge anyone targeted by the scam to call police immediately.
