A Boonton house fire Saturday night left at least seven people from two families displaced and injured three firefighters.

Approximately 100 total firefighters responded to a two-story residential-commercial building located at 121 Mechanic St. at 11:13 p.m. to rescue seven people, including a child, and four dogs trapped on the second floor.

It was not immediately clear how the fire started, but fire officials don’t suspect foul play.

Volunteers from The Red Cross are currently assisting the displaced people with temporary food, housing, lodging and other immediate needs.

The three firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries and all received care at local hospitals.
