A Bergen County printing shop was ravaged by fire early Thursday morning after more than 30 years in business.

Nick Cioffi, co-owner of Yes Press, says the fire broke out at around 1 a.m. Cioffi?s family helplessly watched as the flames destroyed their business at 20 Poplar Ave. in Little Ferry.

No one was injured in the blaze, but Yes Press was destroyed. After firefighters managed to contain and extinguish the flames, heavy equipment was moved in to tear down the walls. The roof of the building caved in the course of the blaze.

By mid-morning, the owners of the printing shop were handing out paychecks to employees while firefighters continued to put out hot spots.

Little Ferry Fire Chief Marty Loesner says the business has been in the area for such a long time that everyone feels its loss.

Cioffi, however, promises that he and his family will somehow rebuild.

The owners of Yes Press are expected to meet Thursday afternoon to plan their next step. They say their top priority at this time is to help their employees.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation. One possible explanation for why the fire broke out is a lightening strike, but Loesner says it hasn?t been confirmed as the official cause. Arson investigators have been called to the scene of the fire.
