A 22-year-old Monroe, New York, man was arrested Friday after police say he exposed himself and harassed shoppers inside the Old Navy store at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus.

Paramus police said Samuel Omitiran was arrested after officers were alerted around 1:40 p.m. to an incident in progress involving a man causing a disturbance inside the store.

Police said officers received multiple reports that the man exposed himself to shoppers, including children, and masturbated while standing in line before fleeing the store.

Authorities said police tracked the suspect through the mall and into the parking lot, where a patrolman saw him entering a vehicle in an apparent attempt to leave. Police stopped the vehicle and arrested Omitiran without incident.

Omitiran was charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, lewdness and criminal sexual contact.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance.
