A family and their pets were forced to flee their home Tuesday night after a fast‑moving fire tore through their residence in Gloucester Township, eventually spreading to a neighboring house.

The incident began when patrolling officers spotted heavy smoke rising from the area of Chews Landing Road. Upon arrival at the 50 block of Cameron Circle, responders found flames venting through the roof and extending into the rear sunroom of a home.

Due to high winds and blowing embers, police and detectives evacuated several nearby homes as a safety precaution. The residents of the primary home, along with two pets, were able to escape safely. No injuries were reported among residents or first responders.

The fire became a massive multi‑agency effort, requiring crews from across Gloucester Township and mutual aid from Bellmawr, Pine Hill, Runnemede, and Somerdale. While crews brought the initial blaze under control Tuesday night, the fire rekindled early Wednesday morning, requiring firefighters to return to the scene to extinguish new hotspots.

One family has been displaced and is currently staying with relatives after declining temporary housing assistance. While a neighboring home sustained exterior damage from the heat, it was deemed habitable, and those residents have since been allowed to return home.

Fire marshals and Gloucester Police remain on the scene investigating the cause of the blaze. While the investigation is active, officials noted that there is currently no indication that the fire is suspicious in nature.

Roadways in the Cameron Circle area have since been reopened to traffic.
