Belleville Public Schools will hold virtual classes on Thursday and Friday after being closed earlier this week in the aftermath of a major warehouse fire in town.

“We are in constant communication with the Office of Emergency Management and emergency service officials as we continue evaluating conditions across the township. I will provide families with an update regarding the reopening schools for in person instruction as soon as possible,” Superintendent Dr. Erick Alfonso wrote in a statement.

The superintendent says several services are in place to help the impacted families.

  • Chromebook pickups will take place at each individual school from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • School 9 Chromebook pickups will take place at the Board of Education Office.

  • Districtwide Grab & Go Meals will be available at Belleville High School from 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Door 14.

Schools have been closed since Monday, ever since a fire sparked inside a mattress warehouse on Sunday.
