The beagles were removed from Ridglan Farms, a facility known for breeding dogs for research purposes.
The mission comes as part of a broader agreement that will see 1,500 dogs released from the farm into the care of rescue organizations.
The 16 beagles that arrived in New Jersey are now being placed with local caretakers and animal welfare groups as they begin the transition from the research facility to permanent homes.
