The hosts of a fantasy football podcast will be using their voices for a good cause during the pandemic.
Long Island native Michael Hauff and Little Egg Harbor resident Anthony Cervino have built their FF Faceoff fantasy football podcast into a success over the past four years.
“We take a bit of pride on this show being East Coast guys, bringing that sort of dynamic,” says Hauff.
Talking NFL news and fantasy football stats, the audience has grown to include thousands of listeners. So, the hosts have decided to use their platform to raise awareness about mental health issues.
“I noticed on Twitter a lot of people in the fantasy community started talking about their own mental health issues,” says Hauff.
The duo will be hosting a pod-athon next month to raise money for the Hayden Hurst Foundation.
“Everybody is together for an extended period of time that could really have an effect on your mental health status and maybe some of these people they don’t know what to do about it, so this is hopefully going to bring some awareness to that,” says Cervino.
The event will be broadcast on YouTube and Periscope. Some big-name NFL and fantasy football analysts will come on as guests for an open and honest conversation about mental health.
“If our guests have a story, we’d love to hear their story. I’m sure I’ll tell my story and I’m sure Mike will tell his story,” says Cervino.
The pod-athon will take place on July 11.
