A South Amboy family who lost their home to a fire says that they are grateful for help from the community.
Nicholas Lister and Kathleen Conroy say that local organizations and people in the area sprang into action after a fire destroyed their home and almost everything they owned last month. Many offered donations and even helped them to find housing.
“The community all gathered as they took down the fire and from there we started getting calls from local churches,” Lister says.
The couple says that their children’s schools also jumped in to help.
"The schools also did phenomenal. They helped us find shelter, they helped us with clothes for the kid. Donations. All the teachers especially, Miss Mansella and Miss Houseman from South Amboy Public Schools, they went above and beyond,” Conroy says.
No one was hurt in the fire.
