The family of a Bronx teenager killed by police two years ago says the Department of Justice will now investigate the case.
Ramarley Graham, 18, was killed by an NYPD officer. The family's lawyers and a member of the Justice Committee say they were told by a U.S. attorney that the Department of Justice has put a team together to investigate Graham's death.
The family did not have many details to share, and the family's attorney says there is no timeline yet on when a grand jury will be convened.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's Office had no comment on today's meeting. Instead, the spokesperson referred to a statement issued on Aug. 20 stating that the office is conducting an "independent review of the evidence."
