Police officers from across New Jersey lined up to walk past fallen Deptford police officer Bobby Shisler's patrol car Wednesday before heading inside Rowan University to pay their final respects.
Shisler's patrol car was moved from its current location where it's memorialized outside of Deptford Police Headquarters.
Gov. Phil Murphy and the state attorney general joined family, friends and fellow police officers at Pfleeger Concert Hall at Rowan University to honor Shisler, who died after being shot while trying to detain a pedestrian.
Shisler was raised in Deptford and served on the force for four years.
"Thankfully line of duty deaths and funerals are far and few between in the state of New Jersey," said state PBA president Peter Andreyev. "But it's just a reminder as to how dangerous our jobs are and the dangers our officers face on a daily basis. What happened in Deptford could've happened anywhere in the state."
Shisler's death marked the first line of duty fatality for the Deptford Police Department.
