Sunday's rain packed down the snow from Friday, making it harder for many in New Jersey to shovel and sled.
"I'm going to need a lot of salt before I can do anything with the shovel," says Larry Lavender, of Metuchen. "It's just packed so I'm going to have to put a lot of salt out here and hope it melts it."
Even if people shoveled after Friday's storm, Sunday's mix of snow, sleet and rain made for a heavy and slushy mix in most parts of New Jersey.
Warren Brooks, a Metuchen EMT, says residents should make sure they are in good health before trying to shovel.
"If you haven't been doing your exercise - certainly if you have a medical history - probably best to get someone else to do your shoveling," Brooks says. "We do see an increase in people having heart attacks shoveling the very heavy snow."
