An elderly man died in a fire in Somers the day after Christmas.
Somers fire officials say the blaze broke out around 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
About 10 departments and 60 firefighters were called in to put out the flames. Fire crews were on scene until 4 p.m.
While one crew held the fire to one room, other crews searched the rest of the house for victims.
They were unable to search the room with the heavy fire conditions. Once the fire was knocked down, firefighters found the body of a man they believe was in his 70s.
Somers fire officials say no one else was home at the time.
No firefighters were injured.
The cause of the fire is not known yet.
