East Newark police officer crashes into parked car, arrested for DUI while on duty

An East Newark police officer was arrested last month for driving while intoxicated while on duty, according to officials.

Harrison police say they received a call on Jan. 26 around 6 a.m. that an East Newark police vehicle crashed into a parked car on Sherman Avenue. The caller said the police officer was asleep and that he was unable to wake him up, officials say.

Officer Brian Aparicio was arrested after field sobriety tests. He also received a summons for refusing the Breathalyzer.
