The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office used a drone Friday in the arrest of a man wanted in New Jersey.
The sheriff's office says 47-year-old Joseph Bell threatened to torture and kill his ex-girlfriend while she was attempting to sign a complaint against him in New Jersey.
Sheriff's deputies went to Bell's house with a warrant. When he refused to come out, a drone with a loudspeaker flew up to his open bedroom window on the second floor. The drone operator spoke over the loudspeaker and announced there was a warrant for his arrest and that he should come out with his hands up.
Bell surrendered peacefully.
He is now awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
