A driver is facing several charges after a deadly crash that shut down the Garden State Parkway for hours on Sunday.
State police say a car rolled over at mile marker 122 in Old Bridge on the southbound side of the parkway at around 7 a.m.
A passenger and the driver were thrown from the car. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.
The passenger, 28-year-old Steven Rivera, died.
The driver, 29-year-old Mark Ellis, of New York City, has been charged with DWI, vehicular homicide and two counts of assault by auto.
Two other passengers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
