Overnight drivers who use the Lincoln Tunnel will face detours and delays starting Monday.
The Port Authority is starting an $88 million project to repair the helix. Crews will be repaving and rehabilitating the concrete deck and fixing the steel under the more than 70-year-old elevated roadway that leads to the tunnel.
Eastbound lanes will be closed from 10:30 p.m. until about 5 a.m. on weekdays. The tunnel will stay open during the overnight work, but drivers will have to use local roads to enter the tube.
NJ Transit bus passengers will also face delays into the city between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. on weekdays, and 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekends.
