Deptford Police Officer Robert Shisler, wounded in line of duty in March, has died

The Deptford Police Department says Officer Shisler dedicated his life to the service of residents and helped ensure the safety of the community.

Deptford Police Officer Robert Shisler, who has been fighting for his life since a shooting in March, has died.
Shisler was wounded in the line of duty on March 10 during a pedestrian stop.
The New Jersey PBA tweeted out a statement from its president Patrick Colligan:
“We are devastated at the loss of Bobby. He gave his life protecting his community. No words can express the grief we feel. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and Deptford Police Department. We will honor this hero and his sacrifice in all we do.”
The Deptford Police Department says Officer Shisler dedicated his life to the service of residents and helped ensure the safety of the community.
New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin also issued a statement, which reads, "It is with great sorrow that I extend my deepest condolences to the mourning family, friends and colleagues of Deptford Township Police Officer Robert "Bobby" Shisler, who lost his fight for survival today. His passing in the line-of-duty illustrates the risks facing law enforcement, and how every day when they put on the uniform, New Jersey’s police officers also put their lives on the line to make their communities safer. I am grateful for the service and sacrifice of Officer Shisler and police officers across our state, and saddened by this tragic loss. Please keep the Deptford Township Police and Officer Shisler’s family in your prayers."
A GoFundMe campaign started for Shisler recovery has raised $137,535 raised of its $150,000 goal as of Sunday night.
