Jenkinson's Boardwalk has closed ocean access until further notice because of the dangerous water conditions and rip tides from Hurricane Erin.

As conditions worsen, beaches might have to fully close as well, according to a Facebook post from Jenkinson's Boardwalk.

However, the boardwalk, arcades, stands, aquarium, and the amusement park will still remain open, weather permitting.

The National Weather Service has four alerts for the beaches.

There is a high risk of life threatening rip currents through Thursday night and a high surf advisory for large breaking waves in the surf zone, up to 8 feet today and up to 10 feet tomorrow.

There is also a coastal flood watch for one to two feet of inundation above ground level possible in low-lying areas from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening.

And a wind advisory on Thursday for northeast winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph possible.

Officials and locals are warning not to go in the water.
