A planned treatment facility for registered sex offenders is sparking some debate in Paterson.
Many residents object because the proposed building on Levine Street is less than a quarter of a mile from a school and playground. St. Joseph's Hospital is down the street and officials there say they aren't happy either.
The non-profit group who wants to rent the building says it will withdraw its offer. However, the owner of the building, Ted Levine, says he thinks criminals who have paid their debt to society deserve help.
