Disturbing new details were released in the case of a jogger who was murdered inside a Jersey City park.

An affidavit released Thursday says Carolina Cano was stalked, kidnapped and strangled by 33-year-old Jorge Rios.

It also says a cellphone cord was used to kill her, and that surveillance video shows Rios following and running behind her very closely in Lincoln Park last month. Detectives say he then left Cano's body in the water.

Rios made his first appearance in court with a translator. Rios is charged with murder, kidnapping and sexual assault.
Rios's attorney stated to the judge that there is no challenge to probable cause. He understands the "burden" on his client, that they have received evidence from state, and reviewed the surveillance video.

He further explained that Rios understands the nature of the case, and that they won't argue the prosecution's request to keep him detained.

Officials say Rios is an undocumented immigrant and has been deported twice from the U.S.

Rios could face up to life in prison if convicted. There is no word on when his next appearance will be.
