Police say a teenager died Wednesday evening during a boxing match in Jersey City.

The incident happened inside a park at Terrace Avenue and Thorne Street. Authorities say Ian Artola was fighting in an unsupervised boxing match. According to police, Artola was punched in the chest and said he couldn't breathe. He later died at the hospital.

The Hudson County prosecutor says the 14-year-old's death does not appear to qualify as a homicide or manslaughter. An autopsy has been done, and though the cause of death is pending, it appears the teenager may have had a pre-existing heart condition.
