A man convicted of murdering a teenage girl more than 30 years ago denied additional charges thrown at him in court Thursday.

Prosecutors said they have DNA evidence linking convicted killer Robert Zarinsky to the 1968 murder of 13-year-old Jane Durrua. Zarinsky said he did not play a role in her death.

"I am absolutely not guilty of this crime," said Zarinsky.

Zarinsky asked for a court-appointed lawyer, claiming he does not have the funds to pay for a defense attorney of his own. The judge said she will rule on that after investigating Zarinsky's financial accounts.

The convicted killer, who said he has been given six months to live due to a lung condition, is currently serving a 98-year murder sentence for the death of 17-year-old Rosemary Calandriello.

Prosecutors said four years ago they had evidence tying Zarinsky to Durrua's death. However, the case initially fell apart due to concerns the crime lab had been tainted.

Siblings of the victims sat together in the front row of the courtroom. Family members of other young women killed in the time period also appeared in court, saying they believe Zarinsky was behind those murders as well.
