A comedian and foodie from Newark went from being homeless to making a living doing what he loves. Now he's one of the most successful influencers in the Garden State.

Mark Gregory, otherwise known as Phat Papi, is just reaching over one million subscribers on YouTube. But it wasn't long ago that Gregory had no idea where he would live or how he would make a long-term living, after working several different jobs.

He was introduced to social media content creation by another comedian who asked him to be in a skit. After a few years of dedicating himself to the daily task of being a creator, he was able to monetize from it.

Now, his days are busy, filled with back-to-back shoots and events but also humor and fun. The influencer says this is just the beginning.

He recently started doing stand-up comedy. Phat Papi's next show is Jan. 25 at 252 Highway 18 in East Brunswick. You can find him at @iamphatpapi on social media.
