Five state Civil War-era flags were unveiled Wednesday at the New Jersey State Museum Gallery in Trenton.
The gallery features more than 100 flags carried by troops during the conflict. It also features a rotating exhibition of Civil War related photographs, sculptures and memorabilia.
The five unveiled are some of the most distinctive.
"Some of the flags here were carried at the battle of Gettysburg, some were carried more early in the war," says Volunteer curator David Martin. "One of the most interesting ones is a captured Confederate flag."
More than 80,000 men from New Jersey fought in the Civil War.
The flags will be on display at the museum until mid-June.
