Residents and family members across the Garden State and the nation gathered at ceremonies Friday to remember the victims of Sept. 11.
Nearly 700 of the victims were from New Jersey. A ceremony called "Reflections" went on indoors due to bad weather in Jersey City. Mayor Jeremiah Healy reminded those in attendance that Jersey City was the first stop for many who escaped from Manhattan on that day.
In Middletown, which lost 37 people, the rainy weather didn't stop people from visiting the Middletown World Trade Center Memorial Gardens. Some were there to remember loved ones, others were reflecting on how the day impacted their lives forever.
