A family is turning a tragedy into hope for other families with suffering children.
Tony and Cathy DeCarlo's son, Joey, died at age 2 after being diagnosed with leukemia almost 30 years ago. On Saturday, they held a car show to help raise money in honor of the boy.
"I decided, in order to keep his memory going and to do a good thing, a car show would do it," says Tony DeCarlo.
Cathy DeCarlo says she sees the good that can come out of something so tragic.
"It's a celebration of his life," she says.
After a year of phone calls, going door-to-door and hard work, the DeCarlo family made a donation of $20,000 dollars to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.
They hope that the money will help alleviate the financial burdens of others struggling with the disease.
