A school bus monitor charged in the death of a 6-year-old girl appeared in court on Monday.
Amanda Davila was charged for the death of Fajr Williams. She is accused of failing to notice that Williams was being strangled by her wheelchair harness in July 2023.
Police say Davila was looking at her phone and wearing earbuds while Williams was struggling to breathe.

Davila was indicted by a grand jury and arraigned on manslaughter and endangerment charges.
Officials say Monday’s court appearance was a status conference with attorneys. Davila is due back in court on March 25 for a follow-up status conference.
