A New York City man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after authorities say he drove into a construction zone on Interstate 80 and struck two SUVs and a pedestrian construction worker.

State police say the crash happened at 12:33 a.m. Saturday on I-80 west near milepost 33 in Mount Arlington.

Investigators say Jose Cadafi, 31, was driving an Acura SUV west when he entered the construction zone and struck a Kia SUV and a Honda SUV. Police say the Acura continued west and hit a construction worker.

The worker suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

State police say Cadafi was also charged with assault by auto and other motor vehicle offenses.

He was taken to the Morris County Jail pending a detention hearing.
