Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band kicked off their first of three concerts at MetLife Stadium Tuesday evening.
"The River" tour celebrates the 35th anniversary of the double album.
The band was originally going to play two New Jersey shows, but quickly added a third to accommodate fan demand.
Thousands of fans gathered before the concert started to share their love for the band.
Scranton resident Chris Lorenzetti says that he loves the atmosphere of these concerts. "Everyone has the same ideals and goals," he says, "like a family."
Colin Crosby came all the way from Ireland to see the show. He says that this is his 49th Springsteen concert and he expects it to be his favorite.
"I said before he gives it up I'd better see him in America. Where better to see him than his hometown?" he asks.
E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zant says that while every concert is special, playing in New Jersey, where the band started, is even better.
"It's something special about being on your home turf," Van Zant says. "Our audience is best in world."
The next two shows will be held Thursday, Aug. 25 and Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Metlife Stadium.
