Bernie Cooke Park in Brick Township will soon go under a major renovation for the first time in 25 years.
Mayor John Ducey says that the renovations will include two new playgrounds, a new softball field and a bike track that will teach toddlers about streets signs and bike safety.
But the mayor says that the park’s most highly requested addition is the coming skate park.
"It's being designed by Fifth Pocket, which is professional skaters that opened up a skateboard design company,” Ducey says. “And it's going to be for skateboarders, so it's all cement. It's not the metal ramps that you see at other skate parks, where mostly BMX bikes and scooters and things like that are on it."
The mayor says that he hopes that the park will attract people of all ages.
