An armed teenager was shot by police in Mott Haven Monday night.
According to investigators, two officers chased the 19-year-old after he allegedly fired a .22 caliber revolver near East 146th Street and College Avenue at around 6 p.m.
They say the teen pointed the gun at one of the cops, whose partner fired, hitting him in the elbow. The suspect then dropped his weapon and fled to an apartment on Morris Avenue where he was taken into custody and to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
A second .380 caliber firearm was recovered from inside the home.
Joaquin Mercado, who is visiting the Bronx for his father's funeral, says he and his family witnessed the shooting from inside their car. He says the vehicle was hit by at least one bullet from the officer's gun.
The suspect's identity and what charges he is facing are not yet known.
