The air show at McGuire Air Force base will still go on this weekend despite the recent discovery of an alleged plot against Fort Dix.
Six men were arrested this week and accused of planning an attack on Fort Dix base personnel. McGuire is adjacent to Fort Dix, but the arrests won?t stop the air show. Air Expo Executive Director Maj. James Greathouse said tighter security will be in place during the show, but that is something that was already planned.
?We?ve been planning for about eight months to do everything we possibly can in terms of security,? Greathouse said. ?So when this week happened, it just reaffirmed what we?d been planning and training.?
In addition to extra local law enforcement, those attending the air show should expect random vehicle searches. Coolers and backpacks will not be allowed on the base. Despite the security measures, officials said attendees can still expect great entertainment, like the Air Force Thunderbirds.
