All New Jersey beaches have been reopened and are expected to remain open this weekend after about a dozen beaches were closed due to high levels of bacteria.
The New Jersey DEP says that new water samples were tested and show that bacterial levels “met the state’s stringent recreational bathing standard.”
The closings followed heavy rain, which often create pollution runoff into streams that feed into rivers and bays.
