A 9-year-old has died after an incident at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania.

The child was in distress at the waterpark when lifeguards began lifesaving efforts, according to a statement from the company’s CEO.

The child was taken to a hospital and later died, officials say.

The cause of death is unclear.

The park says it is cooperating with authorities and will perform an internal investigation.
