A 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries Saturday evening after losing control of an electric scooter and crashing into a guardrail, according to police.

The Bloomingdale Police Department responded at approximately 7:50 p.m. to an initial report of a pedestrian struck near Hamburg Turnpike and Vreeland Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found the injured scooter operator and the crashed scooter.

An investigation determined that the man lost control of the scooter and struck a guardrail. He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.

Police said no other injuries were reported.
