Norwalk firefighters responded to simultaneous house fires Tuesday, including one where a firefighter was injured, fire officials say.
The first happened in the basement of a home on West Norwalk Road at 12:46 p.m. A total of 27 firefighters responded. No one was injured.
Officials say before crews were able to clear the scene, they were alerted to a second fire on Midrocks Drive just before 1:30 p.m. Due to the first fire, a smaller crew initially went.
Upon their arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke throughout the home and fire on the first floor. Once the first fire was cleared, the remaining firefighters responded and help put out the fire in 35 minutes.
One firefighter suffered a minor hand injury and was taken to the hospital.
It's not clear what caused either fire.
