Convicted serial killer Rex Heuermann was moved from the Green Haven Correctional Facility in Dutchess County to the Clinton Correctional Facility in the Village of Dannemora, NY after being sentenced to life in prison for eight murders last week.

The Department of Corrections says Heuermann is being held at the Clinton facility while the classification and assessment process continues. His records are being held at the Elmira Correctional Facility, which is responsible for the processing of incarcerated individuals' records as they enter the system.

Heuermann was sentenced to life in prison on June 17 at Suffolk County Supreme Court in Riverhead after admitting to killing eight women whose remains were discovered along Gilgo Beach.

In April, Heuermann pleaded guilty to the strangulation deaths of Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor, Sandra Costilla and Valerie Mack. He also admitted to the killing of an eighth victim, Karen Vergata, which was included under his plea agreement.
