The Cape May County Park & Zoo has been named the fifth-best free attraction in the United States in the 2026 USA Today 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards, county officials announced.
The recognition highlights the zoo's free admission and parking, diverse collection of animals, educational offerings and family-friendly experience, according to the Cape May County Board of Commissioners.
Located on 85 acres within Cape May County Park, the zoo is home to more than 550 animals representing about 250 species. Its exhibits include giraffes, zebras, leopards and lemurs, along with playgrounds, picnic areas, walking trails and seasonal events.
"We are incredibly proud that the Cape May County Park & Zoo has earned this well-deserved national accolade from USA Today," Commissioner Director Leonard C. Desiderio said. "I strongly encourage all residents and visitors to our area this summer to come explore the wonders of the zoo, enjoy the beautiful park and create lasting family memories."
The zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. year-round except Christmas Day. Admission and parking are free, with voluntary donations accepted to support animal care and facility improvements.
