The Intrepid Museum’s historic Concorde jet is returning to New York City after a restoration project, but not before making a stop in New Jersey.

The jet will be stored in Jersey City’s Weeks Marine overnight before returning to Pier 86 in Manhattan. The Concorde arrived in Jersey City around 3 p.m. Wednesday. The plane will eventually be carried back to Manhattan by way of barge on the Hudson River.

The British Airways Concorde supersonic jet holds the record for the fastest transatlantic crossing by a passenger aircraft. It’s been at the Intrepid Museum since 2003.

The jet just underwent a monthlong restoration project that included removing old paint, sanding and a fresh paint job to match the original markings and colors.

The Concorde will leave Jersey City around 7:30 a.m. Thursday and arrive in Manhattan between 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. It will then be open to the public to explore.
