Two men from New Jersey were killed when a 24-foot fishing boat collided with a barge and capsized in waters off Coney Island Saturday.
Authorities say the boat, which was carrying four men for New Jersey, hit a large line towing a barge around 11 p.m. Crews from New York and New Jersey participated in the rescue and recovery.
Robert Chacon, 47 of Saddle Brook, and 43-year-old John Isello, of Hasbrouck Heights, were pulled from the water. Authorities say Chacon was pronounced dead at the scene. Isello was airlifted to Floyd Bennett Field, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The two other passengers were injured and remain hospitalized.
The Coast Guard is investigating the incident. It says none of the men were wearing life jackets at the time of the crash.
