Police say two East Orange officers were injured Tuesday night after the pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash.
Authorities say the stolen vehicle was hijacked out of Newark June 19. Two officers followed the stolen car after it was spotted Tuesday evening. Officers say the pursuit ended when the suspects crashed the car at the intersection of Hawthorne and Elizabeth avenues in Newark.
One officer was severely injured, suffering a fractured hip and broken arm. A second officer suffered minor injuries. One was taken to UMDNJ for treatment and a doctor was called to the scene of the crash to assist the other injured cop, though it was unclear which officer was treated at the scene.
Police say two suspects are in custody.
