Two pedestrians were killed Saturday morning in separate accidents while trying to cross a busy highway in New Brunswick.
New Brunswick residents say the place where Routes 1 and 18 meet is a dangerous place to cross, but that doesn?t stop people from doing it. They say people cross to get to grocery stores or restaurants, even though there is a bridge that takes people across.
One young man was killed crossing to go from a Bennigan?s restaurant to a Fuddrucker?s. The second victim, a woman, was killed while trying to get between Fuddrucker?s and a nursing home, police say.
Police advise taking the extra steps to use the bridge instead of trying to cross directly. They say they have not been able to identify one of the victims so far.
